What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Roger Norrington and his London Classical Players scored a surprise hit with this Don Giovanni in 1993 - it's a speedy and vital account, and exceedingly well sung by voices that fit well in Norrington's horn-heavy and string-light sound world. I have the first CD issue, which suffers from the wonky production choice to present the Prague and Vienna versions in such a way, that to hear the opera without duplication of large amounts of music, programming of the CD player is required. The reissue corrected this issue. I have made CD-Rs, and now a USB, to be able to listen to Prague or Vienna without hassle.

Cheers,

EJ

She Makes War - Disarm

I saw the very talented Laura Kidd (SMW) and her band on Thursday night. I've never seen a performance with Harp, Ukulele & Two violins before, which just made me admire Laura even more.
