What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Hi Steve J.

Found this in good condition the other day after your recent post. Not a first press unfortunately. Its a reissue on 'BGO' records from 1990. It sounds ok and is in a nice clean gate-fold cover. Also thanks for the email recommendation.

Regards Graham.

Time for one last one before sneaking off to the pub for the WHU - Soton match.

Original 1978 LP - because there's nothing like a bit of "music from the death factory" on a Sunday afternoon, is there?

Perfect for a dull, damp Sunday afternoon in September. Sounding beautiful too through the NBLs.

The first  Brit Icon!

On MFSL Ultradisc II.  It might be old (circa '69, I think) but it's still got energy, and it includes the 7:36min version of the classic TYA track Love Like a Man.

Hi Chris.

This is my Japanese 1970 vinyl copy of 'Elton John' his second album and in my opinion his best . I also have an original UK release which I often see S/H and worth tracking down."Your Song" was the big hit taken off here, it also has "Take Me To The Pilot", "Border Song", "Sixty Years On" and "The King Must Die". IMO this is a landmark album.

Regards Graham.

I remember Elton saying he was going to retire after Capt Fantastic. The old tart is still going strong. At least he hasn't lost his singing voice like Paul McCartney.
