What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Patrick Watson - Close to Paradise

Forum recommendation.  Like it more with each listen.  In reading up on Land of Talk, Patrick Watson collaborated with them in the past.

On CD. Haven't listened to this in ages. Pretty good, the Progfather's best solo album.

Another Storm Thorgerson gem.

I remember interviewing Rick for this album, at the Groucho Club. He smoked all my fags! Lovely man though. Big loss.

No Better Than This [VINYL] Label: Rounder

This album was discussed in the 'Identifying newer AAA vinyl' forum recently. Recorded in MONO, in Sun Studios and other locations, produced by T Bone Burnett into one mic. First impression is its like having a live band playing in your living-room and that's because it was actually recorded live. The songs are beautifully crafted about life death and growing older.

On aged vinyl that's so thin it feels like a flexidisc:

It's the only album of theirs I feel the need to own.
