What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Kovacevich' first recording of Brahms #1 (with Colin Davis at the stand) is well played, but suffers from an unusually fuzzy recording. It's all right when played at high volume.

Cheers,

2007 Legacy Remaster CD. A woozy, chaotic but masterful evocation of personal collapse.

The start of Muse..

Yep you can hear the influences of Thom Yorke, but Bellamy's style is there too which you really here in the later Muse albums... angst ridden intensity.. Great stuff.

3CD compo from Decca circa 1960/61. A great vignette into some of the popular music of this era. Really enjoyable.

Purson - The Circle and The Blue Door

On vinyl, probably one of the best debut albums i've come across for years.

Yesterday evening - the bass is not well recorded, leading to an overall disappointing result. Quite a number of the John Coltrane recordings by the way suffer from poor recording..

A very pleasant recording - belongs a bit to a colder season, but I like it a lot..

A Mozart CD in the package, quite good...not all CD have a good recording quality - but some are quite acceptable...
