What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

The double bass sound amazing, then again so does all the guitar work...Having just upgraded it now sounds like a complete different album.

Howard, It's very good, well worth a listen. Richard Thompson plays some nice acoustic guitar on one track.

Thanks to DenisA for this one.

Hi Dave, hope your enjoying it. Gill's solo band are excellent 'live', which includes two more members of the Emily Barker Band. I like the way Gill has arranged the backing vocals and how the songs open out when required.

ATB, Denis

Hi Dennis, It's rather good, one of the albums of the year so far, and well recorded.

By the way have you got the new Gathering album yet?

Dave

Gregson & Collister, Love is a strange hotel - great album of cover version, a favourite being Joni's same situation.

That's the HCDR settled down with the SN2 and this sounds just fantastic.  My favourite MJQ live set. G

Hi Dave,

Gill's VD is already one of my albums of the year.

Looks like I'll be getting the Gathering CD from Amazon by the weekend. Have you heard the songs posted by the band yet?

I'm seeing Anneke Van Giersbergen @ The Jazz Café, Camden on Saturday. She was great the last time I saw her.
