What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

On vinyl.

I had forgotten just what a breath of fresh air this album was when it was released nearly seven years ago.

  1. Brilliant tunes and riffs
  2. Matt Helders' drumming
  3. Alex Turner's brilliant lyrics
  4. Turner singing in his South Yorkshie accent and making no concessions about it.

^ I saw Emily on the Revival Tour 2012 and Chuck (Ragan) said that she was proposed twice during the tour and she is married! As more beer is doing down, the party's getting harder:

Phillips vinyl LP.

My first ever classical album, and it also contains my favourite version (by Haitink & the Concertgebouw) of my favourite piece of classical music ("Rhapsodie Espagnole).

Once I thought I saw you
in a crowded hazy bar,
Dancing on the light
from star to star.
Far across the moonbeam
I know that's who you are,
I saw your brown eyes
turning once to fire.

You are like a hurricane

Berlioz: Harold in Italy: Beecham/Primrose/Royal Phil

Astonishingly well preserved Columbia original pressing. Music, OTOH, is ho hum.

The LP and the band is Boston. On vinyl from 1976. I remember my brother getting this for Xmas in 1976 and hearing it played over and over and over.

Chris,

As you say the Roxy Music version is excellent along with their version of Jealous Guy:
