What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Thanks ewemon,

I'm using the Goldmine Album Guide and it covers only US pressings. My copy is in stereo. The matrix no is Side 1 "04363-A-1", Side 2 "04363-B-1". The catalogue no is "1C 062-04 363". I'm not great reading matrix nos, but figured the A-1, B-1 indicated a first pressing. However, I bought this album new in a record shop in Ohio in 1981. I guess it sat unopened for a long time.

Best of Cream. On Polydor vinyl.

I realize Cream was not the best recorded group, but I expected more out of this s/h purchase, an import to me. The vinyl is VG+ but it sounds like crap.  I have Cream on CD and this crappy vinyl sounds like it is due to both poor recording (over-recorded, over-loaded mics, low-grade tapes or equipment) and poor mastering or pressing. Any opinions from those across the pond appreciated .

Agnes Obel - Aventine: bought it after a tip of a member here .... very nice album. Her voice is excellent. Type of music is a bit Folk but also reminds me even to Ennya

HI Iver,

Regarding music in common and downloading from HDTracks in particular,

I tried to download but didn't manage.

Indeed I made them a payment through Paypal via Swedish server and placed the order on mentioning

my email address.be

Afterwards I managed to download the HD TRACKDOWNLOADER but I couldn't go further on.

They repaid the amount on telling me :sorry we are not allowed to sell tracks outside USA

You told me a few days ago you have managed usually to download though you address is also .be and

you are located in Belgium

Please  tell me how to do if it's legal of course

Thanks beforehand

Ps I'm the fortunate owner of ND5XS + XP5XS THrough NAIT 5i-2

Whilst I enjoy seeing what others are listening to I find it irritating when posters simply add the front cover art to their post without giving the artist and title, let alone why anyone might be interested. Maybe they assume we can all recognise every album cover ever produced! Just saying.

This live album chronicles the "ten years later" 1989 reunion of the Tom Robinson Band for a European tour. Robinson (bass, lead vocals) is joined by Danny Kustow on lead guitar, Mark Ambler on keyboards, and Steve Creese (replacing Dolphin Taylor) on drums. The set list covers the TRB's hits and familiar songs, of course, but, not surprisingly, given the topical and political nature of Robinson's material, some updating has taken place. For example, "The Winter of ‘79" is actually sung as "The Winter of '89," and most of the lyrics have been revamped to reflect recent events: the fall of the Berlin Wall, etc.

Hi Benedict,

Strange !
I have an account with HdTracks.com as of July 2011 using a .be emailadress. When I look in my personal profiel it mentions my name and adress but for country it mentions "UNITED STATES with some small note saying: For the time being, HDtracks only sells to U.S. Residents'

To be honoust, I cannot remember anymore how I set it up: meaning did I myself edit USA or did the system for me.

Over the Rhine - Drunkards Prayer

Haven't listened to this in a long while.  Great songs.  They recorded this in their home.

Original Vertigo Swirl vinyl. I think I originally bought this album as a teenager for the cover as much as for the music. Oh the hormones of youth! The music is excellent also.

Again original Vertigo Swirl vinyl. Contains a great version of Willie The Pimp.
