What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Yep, never  saw them live myself but I can imagine the energy. Listening to the second album after cleaning the sticky tape on side 3. Whoever came up with the inside design of the record sleeve was high on something.. Oh, yes...those were the days!

Can you Tell me the Name of the drum solo Track?

Silence Yourself

Savages- silence Yourself

gets better each time i listen to it,,The husbands intro does remind me of the Dead kennedys which is no bad thing

Colosseum have always been a favourite of mine since seeing them in concert in the early '70s. Jon Hiseman is a fantastic drummer. There have been many guises of the group with Hiseman being the constant. Try the earlier albums like Those Who Are About To Die...., Daughter of Time and, of course Valentyne Suite.

Now onto the first of the Polydor Cream LPs.

Ist press. No problems with SQ on this one either.

It  could be Rope Ladder to the Moon, the opening track. Difficult to say as most of the time it's a like duel between keyboard and drums. Sounds like Keith Emerson and Ian Paice having a session.

Or it could be the bluesy Lost Angeles. The whole album is a must!

Reaction mono vinyl.

Sounds so much better than the stereo polydor reissue i've got.

Bought these two albums in a charity shop by mistake. I thought I was buying a couple of ROGER Chapman albums. Probably distracted by one of the covers.

Glad I did, they are pretty good.

Yes, it takes time  but it grows and the DK mention is spot on. Still a great effort.

Sublime. The track Are we really through is particularly special.

I guess I'll  join the crowd. I have 2 stereo and one mono copies, all on Reaction,  and the mono always wins hands down, so here we go...

Where did the picture of Michael Chapman's "Life on the ceiling" go

Tony/Steve C,

The mono mixes are certainly better. I wish I had mono Wheels of Fire instead of the stereo copy. It's in beautiful condition though.

..this morning, good, but would expect a bit more dynamics.....

A CD on the Rhino label complete with holographic front cover. Sound quality is pretty fair given the age of the recording.

Saw them, probably 30 odd years ago in a club in Chester, Hiseman was outstanding, think Don Airey was on keyboards, Fanfookintastic band.
