What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Hi Kuma,

This one which is attached. Some comments could be made about the sound quality, but execution is excellent. I hope Matthias will record this piece as well in his recent Schubert series which is in all aspects excellent and reference..

The list of excellent Winterreises is long and distinguished. Highest marks for a recent entry, however:

Cheers,

Steve C,

My son is a big Nirvana fan and would love to hear them on vinyl.  He was listening with me and I was actually pricing Nevermind LPs when I posted this earlier. The album was recorded and mixed on analogue tape at Sound City. Do you know if there were any all analogue pressings of this? If not, do you know the catalog number of the original you are recommending? Thanks.

Original on CD-R I have, forgotten what a good album it is. I might have to get a new version.

On CD from the box set great boogie rock.

First real play of this album, which arrived yesterday. It is very interesting musically and somewhat a departure from Neon Bible; more electronic, less Mumford & Son! I think it will be a 'grower' however it is a tad long and maybe would have been better as a single rather than a double? but was that not said about the White Album?! The SQ is excellent but I think Steve J may have had a problem with his copy. All in all a good album...

Just got round to getting his second album.  Bought the first from the artist direct, i.e. out of a carrier bag at one of his gigs, supporting Kate Walsh.  Loved the first, and now enjoying the second.

Regards

Joe these are the numbers from my copy which is a second press from 1991.

Any press from 1991 will sound very good on vinyl. As far as I know these are all analogue.

Hope this helps.
