What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.
Anyway, links:

On uk original vinyl
Steve. What do you think, Is this the copy you bought off eBay? If so how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking.
Graham
Graham on my second listen of the night really enjoying it.Paid £22 including p&p of an ebay seller who cleans the vinyl on an okki nokki and uses no poly liners.Very happy with it.Uk first press in excellent condition.
I'm glad you're getting into the Groundhogs Steve. If you can try and get a copy of Blues Obituary, one of my favourites.
It is rather nice.
On vinyl.

Steve I'm already looking out for that but may have to settle for a black liberty.Really enjoying the Groundhogs .
Oh my! Just played this recently received CD, prompted by Steve J's earlier post. Quality of the recording is good (Esoteric Recordings) but the music ....the memories flood back.
Who do you love? Now who do you love?.......the volume control is going up!
MDS
@ Steve C. Glad you are enjoying WWSTW. The price you paid is the same as I did recently from an independent record shop in Sheffield. By the way Dr Blues (Steve J) will keep us both poor but happy with the music he recommends
Regards Graham.
All I can say is those 'Mercury Prize' judges must have cloth ears!

Tell me about it. just ordered the Jimmy Page/Black Crowes set from Amazon think the wife may have a fit when she finds out what I've spent this week
MDS, buying the cd you may not seen that two copies of this, original vinyl, have just gone for over £130 in mint condition on fleabay! Ouch!

Goodness me! I think there is one indisputable argument in the regular vinyl v CD debate and that is CDs are much cheaper. I rarely have to pay more than £10 and when I do it's for something a bit rare or special like the new Steve Wilson remaster of Benefit and that was only £15.
And after the excitement of Juicy Lucy I thought some relaxation was in order, though this is one of those albums where the tunes get into the back of your mind for hours afterwards!

MDS,
If you heard a good quality 1st press on a top vinyl system you would probably think £130 was reasonable value. Luckily for me I bought most of my original vinyl when people moved over to CD in the '80s and '90s for very little.

Steve
You might be right, Steve. My experience of top vinyl systems is very limited (my old vinyl kit was entry level) and I was certainly impressed at what Mike 1380's newly Karmen-ed LP12 could do so I certainly understand why you vinyl junkies seek out premium pressings and are prepared to pay premium prices. Would be a bit of nonsense to settle for sub-premium recordings after investing in a Naim system!
MDS
Car music today.
Bastille eventually surgically removed from the LP12

Haven't litsened to these in ages.
Refreshing!
Pleasantly surprised, Night and Day sounds reasonably bouncy on a deck I put together.

The Allman Brothers Band. Brothers and Sisters. On vinyl from 1973.
