What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

1996 vinyl. A much better press and SQ than the Live at the BBC LP.

Joe, it's a (very thin) vinyl from 1979 (Mercury ‎– 6310 960, Scandinavia pressing). Sound is good to me but I have listened to this version over 30 years so it might be also that I have just used to it. Sorry to hear that CD is disappointing.

Thanks osprey,

I've yet to come across any Boomtown Rats vinyl during my s/h picking, but will grab one if I ever see it. I remember hearing their sound from my older brother's room when I was a teen and it was exciting back in the day.

Now something different

This 1970 album constitutes Traffic's recommitment to itself and its music, in the wake of near-constant personnel shuffling early in its existence. It was not the last time the group made the most of such changes, but it signifies that point in time when Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood rediscovered the chemistry they shared.

Antonio Forcione - Acoustic Revenge

Personally I believe this is one of the better albums of Forcione

Unfortunately the 2005 Remasters (overseen by Geldof and Briquette) are another example of woefully loud and poor remastering. (Although Tonic isn't as bad as some of the others, Surfacing is headache inducing)

Loudmouth from 1996 has most of Rats hits and sounds comparable to my vinyl.

I can't have played this since I originally bought it. Boy have I missed a trick. Doh! The music is just fantastic. There are versions of songs, like The Long and Winding Road, which I think are better than on the original album. Some of the stripped down songs are so intimate. I'll be playing this more frequently now.

+1. Nice to hear the Let It Be album tracks without Phil Spector's horrendous post production! The Let It Be Naked LP is excellent and McCartney should be applauded for pushing that project to completion when there was not a lot of other internal support for it within "The Beatles" team (based on what I've read).
