What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

And what do you make of it against your original pressing, Steve?

Not bad MDS. Much better than TAAB. I'd give it 8/10 compared to the 1st press which is high praise indeed.

Thanks, Steve. Glad you like it.  I've not tried the Wilson re-master of TAAB and given your comments and others' I think I'll stick with the CD I've got. MDS

MDS or Steve. Is the cover of the reissue the same as the original?

Graham.

The cover of Benefit is the same as the original Graham. It's not bad for the price. I paid about £14 on Amazon.

A rigid pose, thankfully not manifesting itself in the flowing music. My choice for the year's best disc (out of a meager selection).

Got my CD set from Amazon, too.  Two CDs and DVD + extensive notes.  I'm still wrestling with the DVD to get the hi-def version of the album onto a USB.  For £15 I think the package is good VFM.

The Clash

Turn it up loud as the album says....some great excitement with  deep deep base hitting you right in the chest...they must have been great live!

I have been a fan since their first album but never saw them.

Great classic rock with some nice soaring harmonies.  Great way to start the day.

Great music for chilling out on a winter's day.

Thanks for the recommendation, P. An old (1995) Hueglas recording, the only one I have of the ensemble aside of a sampler:

Haim,

Huelgas Ensemble is a strong base in Early Music; just taste it:
