What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Haven't managed to play most of the discs yet Kevin but I would say a resounding yes from those I have heard..

Neil Young "Sleeps With Angels"

I believe I bought this after seeing BigH47 post it,

In particular, "Change Your Mind" is 14+ minutes of Neil Crazy bliss.

The great thing about this thread is encourages/reminds me to listen to musicians/albums I own but haven't played for a long while.

The Anne Sophie Mutter albums have done just that. I'll be digging out my copy of Mozart's Violin Concertos 3 and 5 (Mutter/Karajan) shortly. but for the moment I'm listening to this.

And digging out an image for posting here I was reminded of this album another I haven't played in ages.

These were all last nights listening.

EJ,

Ordered.

Looking forwrad to listening. Curious about her Violin Concerto, too. I have not heard many Violin Sonatas, but what do you think of Oistrakh/Richter set?

Speaking of *seriously dense, difficult to grasp music*, I've been giving Mahler a shot again.

I bought the set when this was released and listened to a few but gave up. It sat on the shelf till I put on the 9th today.
