What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Or watch the Shea Stadium gig or the Maysles' films of the Fabs' visits to America!

On original 1998 vinyl. 'Cause it's absolutely brilliant.

Original 1982 LP pressing on Celluloid Records. One of Material's more commercial efforts, but it is a corker.

As well as the core trio of Laswell, Bisi and Beinhorn, there is a stellar guest list - Archie Shepp, Nona Hendryx, Bernard Fowler, Nile Rodgers, Tony Thompson, Fred Frith, Yogi Horton, and, in what is - as far as I know - her first lead vocal role, an 18-year old Whitney Houston.

Still says pre-order for 4th Nov on burning shed, which I did.

Mine came last Friday via Amazon but had to send it back due to warping, replaced it with the cd instead. Its good but no stand out tracks like Homesick from the last one!

I would agree with it not being as good as the first two albums, I thought it was just me, but it just does not have the same magic, I guess it is hard to improve on perfection.

Probably my favourite Boz Scaggs album. Superb sound quality, superb songs and by far the highest quality digipak I've seen by a huge margin.
