What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Why, in the huge amount of recordings this one is really worth to listen

On Japanese vinyl

Along with "Animals", "Ummagumma" has always been my favourite Floyd LP.  The live album is astonishing of course, with pretty much definitive versions of all the four songs featured. The studio LP is the one that gives people gyp: apparently even the band don't think much of it. However I think it's wonderful: the Floyd at their experimental best.

There's a great sense of optimism, of moving forward, about the whole double album. Whenever I'm a bit down in the dumps or stumped for an idea I put this on for insiration.

Have fun Kevin!  If reviews are accurate, even at age 80, he can still bring it. Hope so, but please let us know if true!
