What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Hi yes, it's a double CD set of themes and incidental music from classic 60s and 70s ITC series.

The shows on the cover are as follows:

Clockwise, from left:

The Champions (yep, AB was lovely)

The Persuaders (Roger Moore)

The Persuaders (Tony Curtis)

Return of The Saint (Ian Ogilvy)

Jason King (Peter Wyngarde)

The Baron (Steve Forrest)

Danger Man (Patrick MacGoohan)

The Protectors (Robert Vaughn)

Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) (Kenneth Cope, Mike Pratt)

Strange Report (Anthony Quayle)

Gideon's Way (John Gregson)

The Zoo Gang (Barry Morse, John Mills, Lilli Palmer)

Man in a Suitcase (Richard Bradford)

It's a really good compilation - Edwin Astley, in particular, was an outstanding composer.

Kevin AB was gergous, sadly she does not appear to have aged well, she had a bit part in one of the soaps a year or two back, I think eastenders. When I saw her all my schoolboy fantasies melted away never to return.

Can't see UFO on the list, was this not a ITC programme?

Hi Maze

Yes, UFO, like all the Andersons, was an ITC show. However, the music for those is covered in a host of other compilations. This is the definitive non_Anderson ITC comp IMO, featuring most of the series: both Saints, Persuaders, Protectors, Danger Man, Prisoner, Gideon's Way, Baron, Man in a Suitcase, Dept S, Jason King, Champions, Zoo Gang, The Adventurer, Strange Report and R&H. The only ons missing are the Muppets and Jesus of Nazareth

Some interesting rhythms coming out of Bermondsey...

 Antlered Man - Giftes 1&2

First listen on FLAC and enjoyed the variety. Awaiting the CD.

Listen here - http://antleredman.bandcamp.com/ Definitely on my gig radar.

If (do note the if) one is looking for a unforgiving death metal to unleash all the energy that might be trapped inside due to whatever reason (i.e. mostly SWMBO), this is the music of choice. Goes also if one simply wished to listen to pretty good death metal album.

Arrived today. Was a little concerned that this was going to sound digital. After I had read some not very good reviews of albums produced by Doxy. However on first listen I am pleasantly surprised with both the SQ and the pressing + free CD. Will give it a review on the Reissue Vinyl thread later

The Great John Martyn left this world four years ago today.

I have been playing the Big Man's music all day.

Now this brilliant album.
