"He was our Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Bruce Springsteen all rolled into one, a singer of ballads and anthems and especially love songs that seduced entire generations."
Arik Einstein passed away today at the age of 74. He will be missed dearly.

Mravinsky/Leningrad Bruckner 9th.
This is a '80s live recording by Melodiya but JVC has done an excellent job of producing these fine records in 3 sides rather than usual 2 sides. ( 2nd movement is not split up like most albums ). Overall balance, however, is a bit top heavy and strings and brass are given the prominance but dynamics can be heart attack inducing on the final movement.
Adagio is extremely focused and intense bursts of sound which is truly frightening but a the same time enlightening.

The Beatles. Reel Music. On Mexican vinyl from 1982. I found this in the s/h shop today. In quite nice condition, including the souvenir booklet. My first Mexican pressed LP. Vinyl is heavy and flat. To my disappointment the sound lacks any weight on the bottom end.

Ten Years After. Cricklewood Green. On Deram vinyl from 1970. Just grabbed this at s/h shop after enjoying my first TYA record "A Space in Time" from a month ago. Never bought their LPs in my youth but I'm going to look for more now as I really like their sound. Nice to discover something old as new.

Meat Loaf. Bat Out of Hell. On vinyl from 1977. I've only ever heard this on 8-track before. Performances on this album are fantastic, but from a production standpoint the vinyl has that shallow/thin/walled sound I associate with Springsteen. Fortunately, the vocals are so powerful that they overcome any production or sonic shortcomings. Must listen, bristles with energy.

Slated for the supposed over production of Mitchell Froom, but it sounds good on a decent CDP, some excellent songs. It's double, one CD Electric and one Acoustic.
