What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

If the SN2 conjure's up Mick's twitching on 'Hand of Fate' then it has done it's job.

It does.

Hi Chief,

Have you heard TNP's, Field Of Reeds, yet? I think it's a cut above, Hidden.

A  Week End Bargain!

I cannot take credit for this. It was a recommendation on the Scottish Fourm; take a guess by whom?

Double Vinyl -  Still £1.21 + postage from Amazon.

Just preparing for my first listen to the new Steven Wilson remix (CD ripped to NS01). One of my desert island titles. I was off school ill when I gave my dad some of my pocket money to buy this LP for me. It cost a massive £3.10, and I couldn't believe I'd wasted my money on such indigestible rubbish.

Then I listened to it again. And again. Then I got it.

The Rhino remaster was good. Let's see if this new mix takes me back to those first few plays or if it messes with my past...

Hi CC,

The double vinyl of Field of Reeds is a true work of art. A textured finish on the outside, nine songs on three sides and etched on side four. The band were unknown to me until a few weeks ago and FoR has become my album of the year. I don't have another album like this, which made it easier to reach that conclusion.

First play and like what I've heard.

The Commitments soundtrack on vinyl from 1991. Sounds pretty good for a thin slab of 90's vinyl

Great film and soundtrack. Saw the film at Odeon, Uxbridge at the end of '91 with a group of friends. Remember it like yesterday. Happy days
