What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

If not you can catch it on iPlayer its worth a look. Graham.

I wouldn't miss that now would I Graham. I recorded it on Friday and will watch it soon. I did catch a little of The Blues at the BBC and enjoyed Son House.

Another of my market buys yesterday. Carl Palmer was the drummer on this first AR LP and there were signs of things to come with some classic Palmer drumming. Very enjoyable.

Johann Sebastian Bach:  Peter Kooy (Bass), Makoto Sakurada (Tenor), Robin Blaze (Countertenor), Yukari Nonoshita (Soprano), Masaaki Suzuki, Bach Collegium Japan

Cold, snow, December, Christmas - just some of the conditions that make the music of J. S. Bach particularly apropos.  On the journey of the first Sunday of the Advent so we have three Cantatas associated with this day and they are BWV 36 "Schwingt freudig euch empor", BWV 61 "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland", and BWV 62 "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland."

Capturing the spirit of music with a lively recorder playing. Verbruggen has another excellent Bach disc performing alongside Mitzi Meyerson on the harpsichord.

Trying to get into this but I have to admit as yet its not really happening for me, just doesnt seem to connect with me but will give it a few more plays before I make my mind up, it could be a grower...unlike their first two albums which I instantly loved
