What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

+1. This is a great recorded/engineered/mastered/performed LP. The sound was done at the pinnacle of analog recording when digital was about to supplant .  FWIW, in another post I just suggested to Debs she listen to "Telegraph Road" as a gage to assess SQ of her new remastered DS vinyl set.

... and the lyrics are as valid as ever also

I used to like to go to work but they shut it down
I got a right to go to work but there's no work here to be found
Yes and they say we're gonna have to pay what's owed

osprey,

I like those blue collar lyrics and I have always been intrigued by how much Mark Knopfler here sounds like a UK version of Bruce Springsteen.

Decided to drag out the Immersion CD box set which came out last year.

I am listening to the demos (RW solo, band at various stages of development) because I can only ever recall playing them once before. Not the sort of thing I'd play regularly, but pretty interesting nevertheless.

Just spun this, having gone to see this young (grr) man charm his audience at the Corn Exchange in Wallingford on Sunday.

Available on nice quality vinyl and CD. The vinyl is a lovely pressing and comes with an MP3 (eww) download code.

Excellent album & one of the best 'live' bands I've seen this year.
