What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

Posted by: Richard Dane on 01 January 2013

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

I'm playing an old copy i got via ebay a couple of years back.

French pressings that look like a reissue of gawd knows when of the pre-barcode age but they cleaned up okay, playback has some insignificant surface noise and some high frequency harshness that needs the volume lower than one would rather for Led Zep, this is a shame - can easily imagine it sounding better although SQ does seem to improve from one side to the next, don’t know if this is the vinyl, the red wine, or getting pulled into the music, all three I hope : )

Debs

Debs,

Zep albums are renowed for their, let's say, less than perfect pressings SQ. A bit of the red stuff(when drunk: not very good at cleaning records!) may help counter balance it.  In the old days? Well...People just could not give a shite about all that stuff!

Just enjoy it..

Best,

Tony

Last one today, well two actually. I don't normally get the chance to listen this much, more or less all day

Just finished listening to Tamer Animals by Other Lives

Tamer Animals

A brilliant album with more than a touch of spaghetti western in places. Now listening to

The Wall

If I need to explain why just listen to Comfortably Numb.

The Cars. The Cars. On vinyl. I have fond memories of finding this one under the tree for Xmas 1978. I played the hell out of it back in the day and it still sounds great .

Oh Scott, how do I love thee...

...especially on a rainy Sunday morning!

On the back of the Dire Straits box set thread I thought I'd play my original. I think it's only been played once or twice over the years since I bought it. Excellent SQ and quite relaxing for a Sunday morning.
