What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Well, having met Viv a number of times I can tell you that she is most definitely a woman, and a feminine (if not conventionally so) one. Nothing mannish about her at all.

Sidse Babett Knudsen I've never met, but again I can't see anything mannish about her either:

SBK is 45 and VA is 59, so neither is young - but as far as I'm concerned both are all woman.

Perhaps Jordan or Miley are your idea of a non-mannish woman?

PPollini/Abbado: Bartok Piano Concerto No.1.

Faster tempo and more modern reading not so much of 60s Avant Garde B&W film.

Pollini's transparent  and assertive keyboard work works compliments Abbado's softer orchestration.

Still challenging score, tho.

Have been listening to this over the past days and whilst it might not qualify as music, it is totally compelling. Listen with no distractions and as loud as you can (dynamic range notwithstanding), I find it quite draining and need a fillip of something light afterwards
