What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Anyway, links:

You say that like it's a bad thing Steve...

Not at all. Sutch's lyrics are simplistic and his vocal skills leave a lot to be desired but that adds to the character of this LP. There's some great guitar work from Page and Beck.

Bob Dylan. Dylan. From 1973 on vinyl; to my knowledge the only format on which this oddity is available.

You are incorrect, sir! The "Dylan" album is Disc 14 in the "The Complete Album Collection, Vol. 1" CD box set. Haven't got around to listening to it, though.

Thanks aht, I stand corrected. Wikipedia states it was released as a single CD in 2007 with different cover, and also as a 3 CD Deluxe Edition. Interesting to know. I have never come across either digital version.

New vinyl release from Sony Classical. One of the LP has a slight off center hole but not bad enough to return it.  Generally this is a good sounding digital recording at very reasonable cost. (approx.33$ shipped )

This is a second Lang Lang LP I have purchased and these new releases sound much better than Sony reissue series. Curious to find out who's doing the recording and mastering. Pressing isn't Analogue Production/ORG label quality in terms of consistency, but I certainly have heard much worse from other audiophile labels. ( such as Hi-Q label from UK )

I hope Sony release more new classical titles in vinyl format.

Liberty vinyl. A little '60s instrumental music before a busy day.

‘The Man’ and ‘The Journey’ are two longform experimental song cycles that were performed by Pink Floyd during several of their 1969 concerts. In Amsterdam, on September 17th, a crisp soundboard-recorded performance at the Concertgebouw was broadcast by VPRO radio...

On vinyl this progtastic superwork:-

Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery, even with a scratch like the grand canyon and being an original purchase it still plays really well.

How come almost invisible scratches make a sound but huge ones often don't?

Hadn't seen your post Joe!
