What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Truth

Finally to this. All albums are connected.

ewemon,

Frampton was in Humble Pie and Jeff Beck played on Talking Book.

What connects Wind of Change to Talking Book?

Does your copy of Talking Book have braille on the jacket?

Wings. Wings Over America. On the original vinyl from 1976. Interesting to hear this again after about 35 years, and back then it was mostly on 8-track, so my vinyl is still in very good condition. Some songs are mixed dreadfully bass-heavy, but the performances are very good and quite enjoyable.

I can see a connection between Frampton and Talking Book but not with Wind of Change. Frampton recorded I Believe from Talking Book on his next LP Frampton's Camel.

Good call, just listening via QoBuz lossless streaming, it is rather lovely.

You may wish to check out Anuna, Secret Garden and Celtic Woman if this is your kind of thing.

Goldfrapp, "Tales of Us" Deluxe version - I'm listening to the LP. Nice quiet flat pressing, impressive SQ. The music is of course brilliant.

Stars Die: The Delirium Years '91-'97 by Porcupine Tree streaming from ripped CD

A selection of early Porcupine Tree. I only discovered PT this year after purchasing the Raven album by Steven Wilson and am finding it quite addictive, although I've not yet discovered anything quite as brilliant as the Raven album.

Sadly this is another K-Scope CD which was damaged somewhere in the manufacturing process, with an easily visible scar around the outside edge of disc one. This means the last track won't rip on the NS01, nor will it play in a CD drive.Shame because the music is rather enjoyable.

I have the delux version, the sound quality of the vinyl is excellent, BUT, the static is unbelievable. The record lifted the mat away from the platter. When I peeled the mat off the record, it was a darker colour where it had been in contact with the vinyl. The vinyl had lifted what fluff and dust there was off the mat.
