What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

A stunning album. Soulful vocals and inventive arrangements. One of my favorite albums.

Recorded in 1960, this was the second of three fine albums Wayne Shorter made for the VeeJay label.  Plus, I love this later, 1974 reissue version of the album cover!

Following your lead on this one, Larry. The 2004 remaster has wonderful SQ. A very "vinyl-like" sounding CD. Also a nice demo version of "Here Comes the Moon".

Joe Walsh. Analog Man. On vinyl from 2012. Back to my Xmas vinyl, first listen to this.

Lacking drama and rhythmically challenged and slow even when it needs urgency and momentum. Chorus is beautifully done but it's monotone throughout the score in that it doesn't sustain my interest all the way through. It reminds me of a mandatory mass I had to attend when I was in school. ( wondering when it's going to end )

Very mellow Bach.

Westminster mono vinyl sounds nice. Perhaps not as polished or dynamic as Decca but sounds a lot more natural than Columbia classical recordings from the same era. ( circa '55 )

Ah.. this is so much more fun & expressive!

Inspired by a previous post. From one Joe to another.

But Seriously Larry, I'm giving that a spin on vinyl. Thanks for the suggestion. I have two copies. The original Asylum label is one of my best sounding LPs. The black and red Elektra re-issue label pales in comparison and sounds lacking in dynamic range.

Donovan's Greatest Hits. Remaster of the 1969 LP on vinyl from 2010.

Two from last night, both Christmas presents. Both brilliant particularly the EST Album...

Both on 'excellent sounding' Vinyl.

Had this on CD for ages. Its a good album but have always thought it was over long? Received the double vinyl as a present which has solved the problem!
