What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Was introduced to Carley Simon's music by the late JV when deciding to buy my first 12/160 rather than a 22/120

I do not own many of his recording but I enjoy his Chromatic Fantasy and expecially the Fugue very much.

Listening to Perahia's Bach for the first time.

Famous Landowska.

The whole album sounds like a monumental self parody. It is sometimes unintentionally funny.

In your face and sometime even sounds amatureish. Loud and garrish, this isn't your demure stringy harpsichord. Often feels awkward and foreign without fluidity I expect from Bach program. At times left and right hands are not in sync and her right hand does not have any coherent or rhythmic pattern. One note to the next isn't connected. Lively Overall her Pleyel has a shouty annoying character.

I am trying very hard to find a kernel of her brilliance.
