What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

For breakfast I'm having a bowl of "Live Ethereal Cereal" made by Ozric Tentacles. I first had this recording on cassette, then they released all their tapes onto cd....that'll be 20 years ago this new year.

Seasick Steve

Seasick Steve

Saw him at Cropredy a few years back and he was brilliant. The sound he gets from his home made instruments is unbelievable. Of course having John Paul Jones on bass didn't hurt either

Serious songs for serious listening and seriously beautiful.

Most of the CB kit was probably checked out using this album by Ian playing Bang-Bang

Original vinyl. A very good debut album, and one of their best IMO.

Haken - The Mountain

Someone here thought I might like this album, they were correct. The band played one of the best gigs I saw this year @ the excellent Borderline. The vocalist, Ross Jennings has a wide range and on one track (In Memoriam) sounds like Gary Stringer from REEF!

More Genesis

A Nursery Cryme

'Musical Box' is very atmospheric and the swelling keyboards in 'The Fountain of Salmacis' are something I'll always remember from the first time I heard it on Tommy Vance's Friday Night Rock Show many, many years ago.
