What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

First CD pressing.  Bloody marvellous! G

Borodin's Price Igor, one of the first productions of Philips' Mariinsky series. Unlike many, this one is a studio recording in very good sound. The opera itself is high romantic Russian, very melodic with traces of Mussorgsky, Rimski and Glinka. I don't think the performance can be bettered, with Russia's best basses, their best tenor at the time (Grigorian) and Galina Gorchakova and Olga Borodina at their best.

Cheers,

EJ

I assume your still on random Dusty. You must have loaded Culture Club in the first place! Are you dressed like Boy George for the occasion?

EJ,

That looks to me more like a DVD package than a music CD.

Spinning some vinyl - what a voice. A bit like Marmite ;-)

Marmite indeed, David! And I love it...  She is still a very talented lady for sure.
