What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Kuma, I found it:
May 19, 2013 | CSO Presents, Chicago, IL, USA | Berg: Sonata Op. 1 |
I wish he had Medtner on his program. You have season's tickets, don't you?

Original (1969) Vinyl.

On cd, although I see that it has finally been released on vinyl. Time to order one.
Chords,
I decided to get a Sophie Yates Handel disc. Is there a particular one that stands out?
Thanks,
Haim
Excellent choice. My favourite.
Highly recommended.
Next step - on clavichord.
Chords, that is the oldest and the least played version. Ragna Schirmer (Berlin Classic) and Lisa Smirnova (ECM) are more popular here. What I should get myself is a harpsichord recording of the suites.
Look for Kenneth Gilbert on Harmonia Mundi France.

Haim,
The program is a part of their Piano Series and not the part of subscription. I did not opt for the event but made sure got the tickets for Pollini and Uchida concerts.
I probably go hear Aimard play Debussy's Preludes in April tho.
Released and downloaded yesterday ....

Ahh.. you are going after the big names. Perhaps I will get a chance as well to bask in their glow.
Monteverdi – A Trace of Grace is a creative endeavor from renowned French serpent player, Michel Godard. The recording finds the unique collaboration of a jazz trio (Michel Godard, Steve Swallow, Gavino Murgia) accompanied by an early Baroque ensemble (Guillemette Laurens, Fanny Paccoud, Bruno Helstroffer). Inspired by Monteverdi, this breathtaking music features pieces by the legendary composer, as well as, compositions by Steve Swallow and Michel Godard.

Thank you for pointing out Kenneth Gilbert. I have an old (1990) recording of Bach's Concertos for 3 & 4 harpsichords on which he is playing along Trevor Pinnock and Lars Ulrik Mortensen on the Archiv label.

O U T S T A N D I N G.
I want this record...
Haim,
I got Handel/Sophie Yates album as 3 separated CDs; not tripla.
The last note what Guillemette is singing - I am dead on it.
A nice album to relax with after work.
On Original 1969 Vinyl.
Graham,
I love this album and my original had been played to death. I recently bought a Pure Pleasure (analogue remaster) which is superb. Blues Part III sounds sublime.

War with Eric Burdon. Vinyl 1976. Recorded 1969-70. I've not played this in years and had forgotten how good it is. Eric Burden does funk.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the heads up. My original copy is also well worn . I might just treat myself to the remaster.
