With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

First play of my debut Nick Cave purchase, on vinyl, and enjoyed it.

Ryan Adams - 29

First play of 180gm US vinyl. I think this album has some of Ryan's finest songwriting, along with Ethan Johns wonderful playing and production. Looking forward to seeing Ethan on Monday night.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, 'Push Away The Sky' from LA

I found this latest from Nick Cave a bit of a disappointment. Musically it was fine but I thought it was lacking lyrically. Nick usually is a great storyteller but the songs on this album are very lacking in story, poetry and coherence.

An opportunity missed and nowhere near good as Boatman's Call for example.

Great album....."Higgs Boson Blues" so reminisant of Neil Young "OnThe Beach" vibe.

just booked tickets to see them at Hammersmith.
