Just received my ND5 XS. ... couple of questions?

Posted by: Salvo on 02 January 2013

Hi all and happy New Year!

Just received my streamer and set it up in my chain. As i do with the rest of my other kits i keep the utin on all the time, but I have noticed that it gets quite worm as opposed to the other pieces. I was wandering why this should be so. Also, can anyone tell me how I can check which firmware vesion I have installed?

Thank you and

Besr Regards,

Are you connecting via wired ethernet or wireless?  I found when I had an NDX, that connecting it wirelessly caused the unit to heat up noticeably, perfectly normal I think.

If this is so by design, then I would return it. They cannot possible advise to keep their units powered up and at the same time waste energy to such a considerable degree.

Also, neither my notebook, nor my iPod, nor my iPad, nor my Squeezebox radio heat up; and they are all running on constant wifi operation.

Mine is connected wired, it is permanently on and isn't warm at all. I agree to have it checked by the dealer

Hi Salvo,

Mine is on all the time and connected via wifi to the n-serve, it is currently hardly warm. However, when I first got it it run quite warm for a while, so perhaps it is normal in the beginning???? Maybe you should leave it a week or two before rushing back to your dealer.

Cheers.
