Remember going to see them in concert in (I think) the early 1980s at Hammy Odeon, Maze. Great live band with a big following.

We were probably atbthe same concert.

Total agree Mike. Apologies for missing your post.

Pink Fairies Finland Freakout (naff title) from 1971, an outdoors festival which just happened to be 'properly' recorded by a Finnish radio station. 100% pure live raw rock'n roll.

+1 Zappa's Roxy and Elsewhere....there is another version of this in the can, weirdly they are selling it on a distribution basis only, $1000 gets you a master CD to sub sell ...are there enough of us?

Cheers John

There is only one choice as far as I'm concerned  -

Bruce Springsteen's Live 75-85

Alice In Chains - MTV Unplugged

Nils Lofgreen - Acoustic Live

@ Paul, if you want to hear the man who once was the future of rock the choice would be: SPRINGSTEEN, BRUCE : LIVE AT THE MAIN POINT, 1975

Has anyone mentioned this?

A superb Cd-performance and sound quality.  Tracks form Malesch and 2nd Album + some new tracks, excellent if you only need/want one album by them. Original members, recorded in 2007.

This is living in the moment a bit - as this is my current favourite "live album" - although it is stretching the concept a bit as the individual tracks were record live in various diverse venues over a long period.

It leaves the turntable only on a temporary basis.

I second this one. The album was responsible for starting my music journey back in the late 70's and still gets played regularly today.

No Peter Green.

Saw him as support (Splinter Group) to John  at Fairfield Hall a few years ago.

If you were there you would realise why. A pale shadow of his former self. Sad!

I can't decide between these three.

Just got it in the mail and it's PHE-NO-ME-NAL !  A wall of fuzz that grooves and rocks like crazy ! What a great album.

And, as a bonus, it's perfect for upsetting the neighbours and effaroucher les bourgeois.

THANK YOU for that, John.

Nice one Maurice, glad you love it. The very best PF Mk1 live is still their Glastonbury Fayre 1971 side of the triple LP. This is now on CD too I believe. You can close your eyes and picture Paul Rudolph's guitar notes flying off into the night from the first, illuminated pyramid stage during the epic 'Uncle Harry'.  It is also on a PF CD callled 'mandies and mescaline round at Uncle Harrys'. There is also a corking PF Mk2 live CD, Chinese Cowboys, this time led by Lazza Wallis. The SQ isnt as good as Finland but that's the beauty of Naim amps, they get the best out of everything. Cowboys is much faster, MC5 type stuff, but Mr Wallis rips off a few tasty licks throughout, again, your neigbours will love it.

Cheers

Used my remaining HMV gift card funds (before Deloitte change their minds) to acquire this at the weekend and can only say that I am more than pleasantly surprised. Excellent stuff.
