Your Eyes Fool Your Ears

Posted by: Mike-B on 05 January 2013

Interesting thing on BBC TV "Britain's Brightest" tonite,  a demo of sight fooling hearing.

Two taxi drivers were instructed to go to a location by a video message

One taxi driver watched & heard the message, the other was blindfolded & only heard the same  message.

The taxi driver who saw the video understood it as go to Vale Road

The taxi driver who heard the message understood it as go to Bale Road

Video was filmed as go to Vale

Audio was recorded as go to Bale

The "Bale" audio was lip sync'd over the "Vale" video

I watched it a number of times as did my wife,  eyes closed its very clearly Bale,  eyes open its clearly Vale.

What price psychosomatic suggestion, kings new clothes, new cables,  night & day upgrades

.....   ????

How did it steer if he was blindfolded ... I guess he used SatNav like the rest of us.

Autosuggestion is always powerful though .... I'm sure my eyes fool my ears quite often .... seeing is believing as they say.
