Car nostalgia
Posted by: Cbr600 on 14 January 2013
Tony, this last year I was there on the Friday. I went with a friend who had a Frazer-Nash on display and taking part. A great day out.
Michael,
No offence but an x19 ---and a tenuous link to a stratos. Come on now!!!!
I used to work with a fella that had one and it was always considered a hairdressers car.
Apologies
Ah the old "hairdresser's car" put down. Also re the Stratos, both cars designed by Bertone, built by Bertone, numerous shared (albeit minor) parts. The X1/9 out-handles the Stratos.
Anyway, love or hate the X1/9, it was the first mid engined car for the masses, had many clever design features, and I doubt you ever drove one. They're amazing fun.
Carry on!
Michael,
I have driven one, in basildon of all places. They are actually an ok car. Just being light hearted
My company car 10 years ago....
Jono
Jono,
The type R integra is a beauty, and one of my sons dream cars, a real drifters "must have"
If he gets one make sure it run on the OEM Bridgestone RE010 195/55-15 tyres as these were developed for the car.
They work well in the snow as the diff just locks and means you great traction.

His current Tsport is running on proxy tyres which he raves about
Well chaps,
Surprised no one has posted one of these yet!
So thought someone should show an e type
Where I grew up (Staten Island, NY) we had a gal across the street who always had 2 or 3 of these, in an effort to piece together one that worked:
Not sure she ever achieved her automotive Nirvana...
Certainly n unusual looking car Dr M.
What is it? Any more info?
Nice solid colour paint job !
Looks like a Nash. Don't know the model though.
After I graduated, the first brand new car I had was a 1980 Buck Regal. What was I thinking?
About 3 months into ownership, it was rear-ended by a City of Dallas garbage truck. I repaired it and decided I would finally got something worthwhile (in the practical sense.)
A 1980 Honda Accord LX Hatchback - a great car. After I got mine, 3 other friends were so impressed they went and bought one. My dad, who had always been an "only American cars" guy thought so highly of it that he repented from his evil ways. (He called it "the sewing machine" because it ran so quietly.)
That car stayed in the family for over 200,000 miles. My ex took it when we divorced. I eventually bought it back from her. Then I sold it to my brother. When it was 14 years old and had over 170,000 miles on it, he would come out to the parking lot at his apartment, and find a note on it saying if he ever wanted to sell the car, to call the number on the note. That happened 2 or 3 times. The only thing that didn't last on it was the seat fabric - true of all the ones I "knew".
When i was 10 years old got to have a ride in the original Chitty

It does look like a Nash Metro but larger, and doesn't have the indented door panel.
Wonder what it is then ?

It was a Nash, and actually the one Redmires found is more on target with what she had. I had forgotten about the "Metro" when I did my search. Thanks for bailing me out Redmires!

Glad to be of service. I saw a documentary which featured these - they were made by Austin in the UK as an export only model to the US. This was in the 50's when the UK was trying to pay it's war debt payments.
I knew when I was posting that something didn't look quite right - and it was the "indented door" - but I am surprised that a google image search for "Nash car" didn't turn one of these up in the early results - because as soon as I saw your posted photo I knew that was what I had been looking for!
Thanks again!
And thanks to Paul for starting such a fun thread! How else would we have gotten to see the "style evolution" of tonym!? (Speaking in a fashion sense, as opposed to vehicular! )
II was once in the very enviable position of being taken for a ride in a genuine Ferrari 250GTO, that memory will live with me forever. My favourite car I have owned to date is afford Puma 1.7, great handling and good economy too. I miss that car. First time using android, bit of a learning curve...
Is this the one Staedtler ?
As for the puma, don't tend to see many on the roads for some reason
Austin Metropolitan, a dollar generator post war, not sure how successful though.
Yes, that's the one Cbr600.
Puma's are still around, though suffer from rust on their rear arches. Ford thought it a good idea to put felt matting under the arches to reduce noise, instead it just trapped salt and road dirt and they rust from the inside out.
I'd love one of these
I first thought it was an NSU, until I saw the badge. Is it a 2002.
I think it's a 3.0CS, lovely motor.

Indeed!
Or as 3.0 CSL, never raced or rallied:-
I have had the pleasure of driving these 2:-
