Car nostalgia

Is this the one Staedtler ?
As for the puma, don't tend to see many on the roads for some reason
When I worked at Queen Mary's hospital, Roehampton in the 1970s David Piper, who was a racing car driver and unfortunately lost his leg during the making of the film "Grand Prix", was a patient of mine.
One day he turned up in a Ferrari similar to the one in the picture (alas I've forgotten exactly which model it was) & took me for a 'Quick Spin' down Roehampton Lane. Oh sweet mother...
H,
Would that be your Beemer in the lovely martini colours ?
Very tasty

Tony,
You can't tease everyone with that photo , where is it, who's is it., etc
Oh yeah, the last one I saw was on sale for £800,000. I might run to a 1/48th scale version.
Steven your flikr picture is not showing.

Only £16,667 then
Tonym,
Am I right in thinking that david piper is the same man that Sold such exotica as piper racing cams, and other go faster spares for rally and race cars?
Interesting that you worked atqueen Mary's, I also worked there, in and around he mid 80's
If you know the place, they built a (then) new major burns unit, and I was the engineer that built and commissioned the unit, ready to take its patients.
Small world

Beautiful machine Richard.
If we are talking Maserati, then this is the James Martin car that was the subject of his attempt at the Mille milia, and wrecked the engine, all in the TV documentary, but show cased a Lot of fine machinery
Every boy's dream in the 70's and the most unpractical sports car ever.
A nostalgia fest on BBC4 7pm tonight.
Timeshift: The Golden Age of the British Sports Car

Timeshift sets its rear view mirror to look back at the golden age of the British sports car. It's the story of how - in the grey austerity of the post-war years - iconic marques like Jaguar, Austin-Healey, MG and Triumph sparked a manufacturing frenzy that helped to democratise speed and glamour.

Tony,
The thread is nostalgia.
If this's your idea of it, then i Want to read your mind !
Very nice pic though.
Makes me think Of the old joke---- how do you get ino those outfits, well start with a gin and tonic !
Frog eyed sprite anyone ?
Beautiful machine Richard.
James, every Maserati A6 was different - certainly this is one is my favourite (but I wouldn't say no to any of the others either). It's just heart-achingly gorgeous. They're tiny though, so I do wonder wonder how well I'd fit inside. But who cares, it would be enough just to look at it and stroke it every once in a while.
This is the car I have wanted ever since I got a Matchbox "Models of Yesteryear" as a gift when I was about 8 years old: (1929-30 4.5 litre S Bentley)
And I used to work at a place where a guy had one of these that he sometimes drove to work - can't believe he would leave it in the company parking lot! (late 1930's Cord 810 Phaeton - nicknamed the "coffin nose" Cord.)
And I once passed one of these at a red light and almost had to go home and get a fresh pair of pants:
But to really fully appreciate one of these, a stern view is in order:
Great taste in old cars DrM
