Crazy

I installed my Switch today (after getting some help to pick one from helpful Forum-members).
So, Router-->Switch and in the Switch: NDS, US, NAS only.
Now to the crazy stuff: improved SQ, took kind of 3 sec to hear more "space" around Voices and also deeper/quiter soundstage. Very surpricing.
Really dident had any belif it would do any difference what so ever, did it more to calm my obsessive side but what can I say.
Highly recommended, best 20€ invested so far!

Jonas, interested to hear how it was set up before the switch.

Brave post. Nice of you to share. Personally I wouldn't (and no longer) bother.

Given this is Naim's recommended topology, it's not surprising it works.

Question slightly off to the side. I use a BT Home Hub 3, and I turned off the wi-fi when I added in an Airport Extreme to help the reliability of my network (has helped a lot, though will run in hard wiring for the Uniti in the coming months).
If I was going to add in a switch, where would I add it, and what would be the optimum way to wire the Unitiserve, the NAS, and eventually the Uniti.
One patch cable from BT to Airport, one patch cable from Airport to switch, then everything (including my PC) plugged in to the switch?
Sorry if its obvious....

Chris, no nothing is obvious if you don't know it....
So I would connect your unitiserve, NAS, and your other network players off the same switch. Ideally connect your switch off to your router, but if not convenient then you could wifi this link using another access point such AiportExpress.
To the OP my question was genuine? We're you using wifi before?

Hi Simon,
My set up before was like this. From the wall, cable into "multi-device" (modem + router) that I got from my Internet provider. To the "multi-device", I had connected tv, computer, Time Cap, NAS, US, NDS and does the wifi for 3 iPads + 2 iPhones.
The ports on the "multi-Dev" isent good at all. Some cables has fallen out by them selfes several times. The Switch feels very well built compared.
I got the impression from reading a review by Jason K on the US that Naim also recommended connecting an Airport Extreme between "Multi-Dev" and Switch.

Jonas, thanks for sharing.. It would be interesting if you could share the name/brand of the switch and the 'multidevice' router you use. If the functionality is the same, Then I suggest the differences you hear are most likely down to reduced amounts of RFI common mode current passing along the patch leads when using the switch.. I would be inclined to clamp ferrite chokes around the end of the patch leads to see if the sound changes on the NDS further as an hexperiment.. Starting with the NDS.
