Playlists

Still having probs getting playlists going. I have ND5 XS with Synology NAS drive controlled through a iPAD. Neil (badlyread) was kind enough to give me the following - Select track/album hit 'add to' & hit 'play list' but I can't see 'add to' for the life of me. Any further help much appreciated. Regards Bob M.

Have you got the latest firmware for the ND5 XS (either V. 3.16 or v.3.17 are needed for playlists to work) and also the latest version of n-stream (v 3.2) ? Also, make sure you haven't got the upnp compatability mode enabled on the  ipad app as this will disable the playlist functionality.

I'm looking at nstream on my iHpone now.

Choose UPnP as the source.  Hit Library in the top right hand corner. Then pick Artist.  Choose one and select an album.  This should show the track listing, and the Add To button is these at the top.

Hi Bob,

I picked up my ND5 XS on Wednesday and I am also using a Synology NAS (DS212) and experienced similar problems. I assume that like me you are using the default media server and audio station that comes with the NAS.

While waiting for my membership of this forum to be ratified, I have been experimenting, and found the following:

1. I was able to set up a playlist directly on the Synology NAS that then appeared in the 'Playlist' folder in n-Stream for me to use

2. I discovered that the Playlists I had set up in n-Stream that I thought had not been saved were actually there - they just do not appear in the main 'Playlists' folder. However, I found that I could access them by choosing to play any track, selecting the icon on the top right of the screan (takes you into the screen that displays the track that is currently playing), then choosing the 'Play Queue' option that appears in the bottom left corner. The 'Play Queue' screen offers a further 'playlist' option at the bottom of the page, and the playlists I had set up previously in n-Stream are there.

Pretty long-winded, but at least sort of usable.

I assume that the fact that the playlists don;t appear in the main 'Playlist' folder are something to do with the Music Server that is supplied by Sysnology.

Incidentaly, to add a track to a playlist, simply select that track and a drop down menu should appear which allows you to choose to play the track or add it to a queue or a new or existing playlist.

By the way, I am using n-Stream 3.2 and ND5 XS firmare v 3.17.

Good luck
