Naim I-Pad App Problem

Posted by: Mr Paws on 27 January 2013

Hi to all ,

I'm fairly new to this Forum and finding my way around so please be patient with me

I've recently purchased a New Naim Uniti from my Naim Dealer and I'm really happy with it until I connected my PC to it to stream my music files.

when I started using the Ipad app I noticed that there was no Queue Facility available which is strange because I'd previously owned another Uniti a few months ago but had to to sell but the queue facility worked ok so I'm a bit confused here and not too sure what to do.

I have moved my PC,which resides upstairs, from one part of the room to another and I have Ethernet Connection via TP Link Powerline Adaptors which are connected directly to the wall sockets.

I have deleted and reloaded the nStream app a couple of time but no change at all.

I'd be most grateful for any advice please?

Thanks in advance.

mike.

A couple of things.

  • Check UPNP compatability mode isn't enabled in nStream (settings) as this revetts to the applications previous behaviour.
  • Have you checked the firmware version on your Unti, when introduced it required a firmware update as well as a newer version of nStream?

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your reply.

I've had a look at the firmware number and it is version , 3.13.00 So I'm assuming its the latest update being a new machine?

As for the UnPnP setting /compatibility does that mean I have to go into the nStream App settings itself ?

sorry if I seem to be a bit slow on this I'm slowly learning digital media with an Analogue Brain

Cheers,

mike..

I think you should be on 3.16 or 3.17

Ahh or should I say oh dear I'll have to root out my RS232 lead I used the last time I had to do am update on a previously owned Uniti.

No problem with doing the update itself but I've got to dismantle my PC which lives upstairs

I've just bought this Uniti new and its although old stock you'd think the Naim Dealer would have carried out the latest update or am I being too picky ?

Ah well thanks for the advice Guys I shall get connected up and report back!

I think the dealer should have updated it too

Mind you, it's likely another update will be along soon anyway I think.

Jobseeker I hope another update is far down the line just to give me a rest for a bit :-)

Can you guess which ?

Thanks Guys for your help.

That's dire service from your Naim dealer. Going from "delivering and installing" to not being arsed to upgrade a box to the latest firmware!

what do they think their job is?

may as well be mail order if this is the sort of service that's offered.
