How about a he thread for all the aircraft enthusiasts.
I believe we might have the odd helicopter owner, and also have a few pilots on the forum
How about those who just like aircraft.
Can we post some great images of aircraft that are either owned, flown or just admired by forum members.
Looking forward to some great images
Paul
The Comet
Should have guessed you would be first up Kevin !
Nice start
And not forgetting your photo of the tug on the car posting !
The Comet
In the Comet's early days 2 planes crashed in the Mediterranean Sea. My father was a diver in the Royal Navy and was part of the team responsible for recovering the wrecks to determine the cause of their demise.

Cause was metal fatigue which started at the corners of the then square passenger windows and spread after repeated pressurization. Though modified, sales of the plane never recovered and the later Boeing 707 dominated the early jet age. Nevertheless, the Comet is a beautiful plane to look at even today.
Tony
Lockheed Constellation and you're right a very beautiful airplane.
This is more the scale of my flying
Picked up a nice copy of this record (released in 1956) yesterday. Can anyone tell me what type of airplane this is? Thanks!
A thing of beauty, especially when it takes a bow to the queen

Most likely a Boeing Stratocruiser.
I used to fly Pan Am a lot when I was a boy and most exciting was when they introduced the Boeing 747SP - a special shortened version of the 747 with an extended upper deck, bigger tail and much larger wingspan. I got to fly in that one 3 times, and of course in those days being an inquisitive and aeroplane-mad boy, you got to go and sit in the cockpit and ask the pilots questions.
I love flying to work in my one of these. Trouble is, the Naim for Bentley was too heavy so I had to send that on, in cargo.

'Took', not "takes". And I think that's an American one.

It took a bow some years ago, but it can indeed take a bow at any time in the present and future, and it will still be a thing of beauty
