Naim desktop client
Posted by: Dwamish on 03 February 2013
I am confused again with the setup...
I start desktop client and then Connect to Naim. "Failed to connect to the hard disk player located at unknown: error"
I have uniti serve.
I then try again to select a HD-player and scan for players.
My player turns up as "NSS...." On network 192.168.1.3
I then try to connect again. And...
"Error: request timed out"
I can connect with Internet explorer and N-serve works.
What is wrong.

With my IT hat on, I'd suggest remove the DTC program from your computer, restart the computer then re-download and re-install. What you describe sounds like (that' sounds like, but not certain) a corrupted program. Hope that fixes it for you Dwamish!

Thanks for the tip.
What is strange is that I also have an issue updating to 3.17 on SU. When trying to update I get an error message saying "failing to he discover the product on the network". And I am prompted to add the Ip-address manually. However above it says product model and network address 192.168.1.4 and when I go into the SU setup the ip-address is the same 192.168.1.4? SobI put in the address manually and again it ask me to retry...
Could this problem be related to the above in some way I wonder?

Almost certainly !
What router are you using and have you made any special set-up changes to it?
...and have you tried power cycling (turn off, wait, turn on) the router?
That nice chap Simon in Suffolk is good with networking stuff, so let's hope he notices this thread and jumps in !!

I have a Huawei router 593B and when I review DHCP settings it says that both the uniti serve and the SU are "inactive" while for example my I-pad are active? Anyone know why that is and how do I change that? Could be the problem for me?
Any guidance out there among you Naim friends?

Problem solved it was a firewall issue...my daughters boyfriend found it by removing a number of programs and removing several firewalls. I have no clue what but anyways now it works. Dwamish
