Naim Apt Mac

Posted by: jamesfulham on 05 February 2013

I use the Naim Apt on an ipad and find it really good but after listening to downloads from itunes for a period of time my iMac PC goes on standby and then I can’t use the Apt until I run up stairs and put in my password again in the PC. Can anybody suggest a solution. Thanks.

This is not a matter of the control point (meaning the app (=application, not Apt)), but rather of your server (iTunes) not preventing your Mac to go into standby.

There should be a checkbox somewhere in the iTunes settings to cure the problem. I cannot tell you where it is exactly, because iTunes is something I will keep my PC clear off, but it should be somewhere in the settings/preferences.

hi james,

two things you could try...

1) avoid sleep mode. Within the system preferences (energy saver) you have an option to simply set the idle time to indefinitely. This should solve the issue – will consume energy 24/7 though...

2) try to activate ""Wake on Lan" also within the energy saver system prefs - this should work just fine for any wired connection of the mac. With wifi/wlan your mileage will vary...

Cheers,

PS I have switched over to SSD hard discs which have no moving parts and therefore generate much less heat and "just" switched of the display on my mac - seems to be a fair compromise in terms of 24/7 responsiveness versus energy concerns...
