Heads up Krautrock fans

There's a new Conny Plank box set out this week called "Who's That Man?".

Presented in a 4CD box with extensive booklet, featuring many unreleased tracks.

CD1 and 2 features originals (where Conny was involved), CD3 is comprised of remixes of original songs (remixers include Walls, EYE from Boredoms, Kreidler, Automat, Einstürzende Neubauten, amongst others).

CD4 is a previously unreleased live show featuring Conny Plank, Dieter MÖbius and Arno Steffen in Mexico 1986.

I was a fan back in the 70s and in many ways still am ... Amon Duul were my favourite band of that genre and, of course, Floh De Cologne. Faust, Can, Wallenstein, Anyone's Daughter, Birth Control, Karat, City and, of course, Floh De Cologne were also favourites along with BAP, Nina Hagen, Nena, DAF and the electronics of Kraftwerk, NEU!, Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra Temple and those Cosmic Jokers ... Oh and Eloy and some other too like Guru Guru and Embryo and, of course, Floh De Cologne.

Interesting but limited track listing. He did so much more. Mind you I have those already.

Apparently there were complex rights issues so a lot of stuff - Kraftwerk, Harmonia especially - had to be left off.

That kind of makes sense. I would imagine compiling someone like him would be a nightmare. I always impressed that the Jack Nietzsche comps were so comprehensive.
