introducing an appropriately priced av amp?

Posted by: Gooders on 16 February 2013

My first posting.....

I plan to introduce  an av amp into my system to make best use of a pioneer 91 blu ray player which is currently only delivering stereo - but I am unsure as where to pitch from a price/ brand perspective - wishing to attain  a quality play back but mindful that the current amp arrangement  will be driving front left and right. System is an "olive" NAC82, Hicap & current model NAP 250 through Linn Keilidhs.

Very much welcome any thoughts

I use a combination of Naim Stereo and NAD AV Receiver for the other channels given my speakers I don't need a seperate sub.

I opted for NAD given the good sound and the fact that you can upgrade without having to exchange the receiver (just module exchange).

No problems Gooders. Let us know how you get on with it and if you need help with anything.

Rack and Jobseeker - Have bought the the Naim combo - it sounded really good even when demo'd with an inferior BDP.

Tried with B&W FPM 4s to the rear (preferred to Linn Sneaky Uniks which may as well have not been there) and a further FPM as centre. This sounded good, but the centre seemed to dominate the Keilidhs (tonally brighter I think).........so tried a Linn Akurate Centre which given the enormous price differential should have sounded better .....it did, massively-so and the tone match was also good. The problem is the both the price and the fact that it is butt ugly.
