I'll get the thread going.
Last night we went to Bukowski Grill (a good alternative to Honest, which is too crowded these days), the burger and rib joint in Brixton Market.
Great burgers (mine was cooked very rare, as I requested) and pulled pork rolls, tobacco onions, coleslaw and chips triple-cooked in beef dripping. Lovely.
£68 for four including service and a beer each. Good value.
So come on guys and gals, let's hear where you went...
Manor Farm Carvery in Lower Wick. £3.99 for a good choice of roast meats, and as much potato and veg as you like. Traditional fayre and you see what you are getting ... nothing like a large roast - far bigger than one would ever cook at home - to get the succulent tastes of it! That was in the Autumn.

Sushi Bar in Watford Market of all places. Lovely sushi prepared by an old Japanese chef in his 70s who used to be the sushi chef at Harrods. My wife and I had Seafood Ramen soup, and an Edomae set of mixed sushi (tuna, salmon, squid, smoked eel, sea bass, about 10 pieces) and a tempura set to share along with a soft drink. This was all for the princely sum of £17.50, £20 with a tip. It's not in the most salubrious of surroundings next to the fish stalls but the food is excellent. We go on Friday lunchtime but I believe they are there when the market is also open on Tuesday and Saturday.
Last meal out was at the Enoteca Tognoni in Bolgheri (a sort of Wine-Mecca, but I won't bore you with that) in Tuscany. We had Carne Cruda, which is Italian Steak Tartare, but prepared very simply, just olive oil, lemon and pepper. Delicious.
Talking of meat though, on Friday I cooked myself this:
Leclerc was out of ready meals...
Lovely. Perhaps it was beef. Certainly not 'cheap'.
(I always do too much pasta)
Hope you cooked it thoroughly, or you could end up with the trots !
An excellent Indian at the Indian Lounge in York for wife's birthday.

The steak looks delicious. I've eaten cheval/horse, including Tartare Cheval, many times in France and Switzerland. I enjoy it. It's no problem, IMO, as long as you know it's what it's supposed to be.

Ok Kev,it was last Saturday in a fine restaurant close to my place.First of all it was a pleasant evening because of the people sitted at my table.Dinner consisted of:fettuccine(kind of pasta,so to change)with a lovely sea urchin sauce,then a tender and crunchy young pork with roasted potatoes.I started with a "withe"Vermentino di Gallura,then half a glass of Cannonau,always from Sardinia.That's all.
"... as long as you know it's what it's supposed to be".Totally agreed.
The Barley Mow pub in Tandridge Surrey on our way back from Dover,pub we usually use(The Royal Oak,Capel le Ferne) was packed to bursting,so we shot up the Motorway to Godstone.
Sunday roast was overpriced for what you got
Their Sussex bitter was just about drinkable.
Manager needs to teach his bar staff some basic manners..please and thank you would be a good start.
Wont ever be going back.

I would be really shattered if that were true but skiing was two weeks ago.
I did of course eat while in Madrid but in was a football trip so essentially complimentary tapas

Every time you post pictures of those steaks I salivate. It would be worth coming out to your neck of the woods for a holiday just to eat one of those babies.

A bar called Apotek. Originally a pharmacy and still furnished with its original timber panelling and plaster ceiling roses...and I believe original serveing counter but not quite in it's entirety. Currently owned by a Turkish bar owner. As you can guess I had a great Turkish meal of mixed grill and mezze some excellent Belgian Trappist beer and a couple of glasses of Port. I also managed to miss my tram stop by three stops as I was a little drunk and reading the Naim Forum...a good night.
Not that expensive, £60 odd quid...including two bottles of Efes, one bottle of the excellent Orval and three glasses of Port...I think...anyway enough to get me humming Bhi Bhiman's 'Guttersnipe' on the way home.

An old favourite, the Joy King Lau in London's Chinatown.
Softshell crab and garlic, fried wontons, duck with lemon, egg fried rice, noodles with squid, king prawns with chilles and peanuts, steamed tofu with black bean sauce, plus three beers each. £80 for two.
The Canton Arms in Stockwell SW8 is renowned for its toasties. Had never been but we went yesterday. Love the place - it's got good food at decent prices and is not too gastropubby or middle-class foodie; there's still a bit of the old Stockwell scuzz about the place.
Anyway, I had the infamous haggis toastie with brown sauce. It was rich, filling and delightfully savoury and meaty. Absolutely delicious. Two toasties and a couple of drinks each, about £25.
Will be going back soon for the foie gras toastie
Just back from birthday meal at a relatively new Italian, in our town, Da Peppino , really good, excellent food great house red, finished off (literally) with "free" Sambuka shots. £ 30 a head for 3 courses including wine and gratuities.
