Any Bubble UPnP Users?

Posted by: pixies on 19 February 2013

I have recently downloaded the Bubble UPnP app to my Google Nexus to allow streaming of my music from a Synology 212J NAS. However it is failing to consistently find my ND5XS streamer as a rendering device, which I am using in a wired configuration. It finds other renders around the house like laptops and Xbox no problem.

I am trying to compare it to the Synology DS Audio app as a replacement for n-stream (which I deleted - see earlier post for reasons why) and DS Audio finds the ND5XS no problem.  The Bubble web site is not very useful for a relatively ‘non techie’.  Are there any experts who can offer advice?

Hello Pixies, found the post you mentioned on another thread. Unfortunately I can't help with this one as I don't use UPnP.

Perhaps other UPnP users will be along soon. Don't give up.

Can't help, sorry - Bubble uPnP has always worked flawlessly for me.

Have you made sure that the ND5XS is on and had enough time tk connect to the network?

Just one thought. Did you manually enter the IP information or use DHCP? If you manually entered verify    the gateway ip is corrected.

Also can any of your other devices see ND5XS?

Hi TonyR.  I think I have entered the IP information manually. I did not know there was any other way to do this and don’t know what you mean by ‘use DHCP’ (can you explain?).

I have been using n-steam from an ipod Touch previously and have also tried DS Audio via an android phone and Tablet.  All of these find the ND5XS every time.  I therefore see it as being a problem within the ND5XS settings perhaps? The reason I want to persist with Bubble UpNP is that it seems the most user friendly solution now that I can't use n-stream anymore.

Under Settings, Network, DHCP. The options are Yes or No.

Yes is simplest option and works in most cases. I would suggest you switch it to yes and then retry Bubble.

You might want to make a note of the network settings prior to making that switch.

You are looking for

1) IP Address  - eg. 192.168.0.50 (this usually can be between 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.254)
Making it higher such as 192.168.0.60 is a safe  # so it does not conflict with other network devices (unassuming in this case you do not have 60 devices on your network). Just like a phone # you can't have 2 devices with the same IP address.

2) Subnet - usually 255.255.255.0

3) Gateway usually 192.168.x.1 with the x being 0 or 1 depending on your ip address

TonyR you are a star! I checked my settings as you suggested and DHCP was already set to yes. So I set it to No and let it configure. I then reset it back to Yes and it has found the ND5XS straight away. Its great when this forum works. I was realy frustrated with this issue so a big thanks!

Glad you got it resolved
