In my opinion, DSD will never happen with Naim, at any level.

Antelope Audio Zodiac Gold DAC will support DSD soon.

Would be nice if Naim's DAC could support it, currently I'm looking at a second DAC just for DSD playback.

I just wonder if they can do native DSD to analogue without conversion to PCM first, as I believe it would require different hardware.

Aleg - i must admist the jury is out whether there is any difference between DSD and PCM:

DVD-Audio versus SACD: Perceptual Discrimination of Digital Audio Coding Formats; Blech, Dominic; Yang, Min-Chi. Erich-Thienhaus-Institute (Tonmeisterinstitut), University of Music Detmold, Germany 2004 - concluded in a controlled test -  "hardly any of the subjects could make a reproducible distinction between the two encoding systems. Hence it may be concluded that no significant differences are audible."[

I must admit single bit oversampling has been around for a long time (mid 80s is when I came across it first - it was popular with Japanese hifi) and it normally is down to the DAC chip design.

Simon, That should be the same result as for the blinded amp test.

Hi Simon

I must say I'm not very fond of scientific research.

I like to hear for myself, so I've started looking around for some decently priced DSD-capable DACs.

Aleg, fair enough. In a  controlled experiment using mean opinion scoring it solates any pre conception or bias if I understand it correctly. However with all things statistical, ie when you are measuring a cognitive response in people, there is a distribution of responses and the aim is to see if it's random or not. In 2004 it was random, in 2013 it might be different. Be interested to hear how you get on.
