Song length not correct on Unitilite

Posted by: Christophe Lenaerts on 25 February 2013

Hello,

I have a new Unitilite.  A lot of songs are not played correctly ... For example:  A song in Flac format plays correctly on my Mac by using VLC Mediaplayer or another mediaplayer.  There the song lenght is for example 3.5 minutes.  When I play that same song on the Unitilite the song length is for example 7 minutes ... When the song ends after 3.5 minutes it stays quite for the resting 3.5 minutes (counting down the time).  This means there is always a gap of several minutes between two songs...

Can someone please tell me how this can be fixed?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Christophe

Hi

How are you delivering the music to the Unitilite? Are you streaming via UPnP for example or are you using a direct connection from your Mac maybe?

The Unitilite obtains its information from the Server/Mac so it is here that the problem probably lies.

Can’t offer further suggestions without more information.

Regards

Peter

Hi Christophe,

As per my email reply earlier - can you let me know what UPnP server (and what version) you are using as this smells like a UPnP server issue...

Could you also give - say - Asset UPnP a try and let me know whether you have the same issue? Asset now have both Mac and PC versions and is generally pretty reliable.

Cheers

Phil

Hello,

Thanks for the replies.  I bought a Synology DS 413 NAS  for storing al the music files.  It works with "Media Server" which is an UPNP server.

Info:  http://www.synology.com/dsm/ho..._server.php?lang=enu .

When I play the songs which are on the NAS with VLC media player,...on the Imac, I don't have that issue ... So it's not a UPNP server issue...

I cleared the UPNP cache in N-stream.  I also tried UPNP compatibility mode ... with the same result.  It seems the this problem occurs only with high def flac files (24bit 88Khz), not with wav files... Most of my files are  in the flac format.

Small update:  I have to check tomorrow if the problem does not occur with flac files which are not of a higher quality.

I really hope we can find a solution because now we can't select multiple music files at once to play correctly one after another without big gaps...

Dear Chris

Had issue with Hidef file (m4a format) on m NDX so made a conversion of some of my m4a 24/192 to Wav 24/192 (file bigger on wav)  => just perfect, now working on the NDX (both Upnp and USB)

Hope helps
