Using 802.11ac Wireless

Is anyone using 802.11ac? My understanding is that you need an ethernet bridge as Naim streaming products don't recognise 802.11ac. Can you still use n-Stream?

Just moved and gonna be difficult to have wired ethernet. New BT Homehub 3 has been causing all sorts of issues intermittently....not recognising NAS so no server, n-Stream not picking up devices (auto or IP).

Tried ethernet over mains but getting problems with Youview box as it also uses ethernet over mains. Perhaps issues with 2 different ethernet over mains products. Also had issues dropping out over mains.

Hector you will need a bridge as you say, but Nstream will be fine with that, assuming your apple device can use a/c.

Btw quality revealing hifi  and network  over the mains don't really go well together because of the phenominal RFI caused..  Which of course for significantly less RFI we often go to some expense to minimise with mains blocks, mains leads, dedicated spurs, dedicated wall sockets, avoidance of SMPS  etc.

BTW have you looked at shielded flat Ethernet cable for laying under carpet/flooring. It can be just 2mm thick. Putting some in here as I needed to re route some Cat 5e Ethernet cable as even that was causing RFI in my FM coax shield that ran parallel for 3 metres causing soft digital warbles and a lack of vibrancy on Radio 3 and 2...

Thanks Simon. Good point re Apple compatibility.

Not sure exactly what you're asking, but 802.11AC is backwards compatible with a/b/g/n.  So AC shouldn't have any issues that an a/b/g/n router wouldn't have.  If your streamer doesn't have wireless built-in then, yes, you'll need an ethernet (not USB) wireless adapter like the Netgear WNCE2001 but, again, this is not an AC issue.
