Problem with NDX, Synology NAS and n-Stream settings (UPnP mode)

I have NDX, which is streaming my music from Synology NAS 1512+. All my music is ripped as flac files. I also have some hi res 24/96 and 24/192 albums. The NAS is settled not to transcoce Flac to WAV ( disabled transcoding in the settings of the Media Server). I use n-Stream to control my NDX. The issue which I have is with the UPnP compatibility mode in the settings of the n-Stream. When it is enabled, all my files are playes as they should be => n-Stream show them as flac ( normal and hi res files are shown with the correct resolution). But the problem is that in this mode I can't use the playlist and queue support ( they are just not avilable in the n-Stream). If I disable the UPnP compatibility mode them I can use the full functionality of the n-Stream with queue and playlist but I have an issue with playing my misuc => my normal flac files are played and shown correct ( FLAC 1411kbs / 44.1 kHz) but it is not the case with my hi res files. Some of the them ( 24/96 and 24/192) are shown as flac files ( and with the correct resolution) but some of them are played and shown as WAV ( 1411 kbs / 44.1 kHz). I have changed several times the UPnP compatibility mode ( enable/disable) and everytime it is the same problem ( some hi res flac files are shown as normal WAV files).

Did somebody experince the same problem and how did you solve it ? Is they an option how to use the full functionality of the n-Stream ( with queue and playlist mode) and all my hi res files to be played and shown as they are ( flac files with the correct resulution) ?

I have moved from Media Server to using Minimserver on my 212j. It works much better but can be a bit fiddly to install.

Why not just set the server to transcode everything to WAV. You'll get full nStream functionality and it will sound better too, as the streamer has less work to do. Why wouldn't you do this?

When seeing all these types of issues on the forum early on I set my mind to rip everything to aiff. This is red book , 96 and 192.

so I don't have to use transcode and I have never had an issue. Never had to use comparability mode neither. Everything plays correctly as expected.

since hard disk space is relatively cheap these days, I think it pays dividends to chose wav or aiff and then you bypass the upnp server settings regarding transcoding.

I think this is the safest bet IMO.

try a few albums with either wav or aiff. Switch off transcode, switch off compatability mode and see if everything works ok. Hopefully you have not ripped too many albums but I know XLD or dbpoweramp can convert the whole library to whatever format you require in one go, job done!
