Why did you go for ALL CAPITALS?

I don't know really I guess it stood out more. Ccmr30 is a motorbike that I'm selling to pay off what my lovely gf lent me to buy some more hifi so didn't want to keep the name.

I tried to come up with something that played on naim or name but it had all been done.

I don't understand the need to have a profile name that is not something close to your real name ??

Whats the point, whats so secret about your ID, it also saves having to change when you sell the bike or get a new dog/cat/girl/naim

Why not ? A profile name can be anything you want it to be. I'm on various forums be it cars, bikes or even hifi an have picked something different for everyone. If you read my previous threads I have often ended with my name so I'm not hiding anything. We are all free to make our own choices so why not. Many thanks, Mike

I'm not sayings its wrong,  just asking why..

My answer to that is why not. I like it when people come up with funny or clever profile names. Officer dbl, tonaimbutafew etc etc it makes things more interesting. Well I think so any way.

Of course using your real name as ID can make things to feel more personal (and nothing wrong with that). However, person's first name is likely to be a given one and thus does not tell so much about the individual behind the name. The chosen username on the other hand can reveal more. If I use mine as an example it tells that I like nature (a bit of a tree hugger), enjoy eating fish and my family has long lived by a lake (a place called "Osprey Hill") where these birds used to nest etc.

I don't have an issue with names like osprey, Officer DBL etc.,  but the need to change names because the bike got changed  ??   not too sure about all upper case either.

Anyhow,  enuf,  more important stuff @ Murryfield at mo.

As I was born within the Hundred of St Briavels I am a Forester.

Dear Forester,

I never thought of you as a Forester!

I have lived all my life in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, including a ten year spell in Ross-on-Wye. In those days I worked on my cousin's farm and knew very well many Foresters, who also worked on the farm.

Very best wishes from George
